My bootloader is still locked. Am still waiting for approval to unlock bootloader.

Meanwhile, I am unable to update to official rom using updater. I tried both China and Global Rom, both don't work.

I also tried using Mi PC suite. However I end up with this error given in the screenshot. I am using Windows10. Tried with different usb ports but didn't work.

Tried it on my laptop, it was worst. Mi PC suite didn't even detect the phone even though ADB drivers were installed.

what i did was unlock the bootloader follow by flash with flashboot rom as updater app and Xiaomi PC suit eng/china version are not working. after unlock bootloader u can flash either global or china rom, doesn't matter. hope my info helps~

Did u enable developer options and also USB debugging on yr phone?

Has anyone got this problem where Mi5 will log you out of your Google account and desync all your contacts, email, calendar etc overnight?

It happened a couple of times to me, my first Mi5 and the replacement Mi5 I got from Xiaomi Store with it. And it only happened at night while I was sleeping.

My Whatsapp account was not affected although strangely my Wechat account got logged out.

I'm on China Stable Rom, is it a China rom issue?

Hi hi, im in the exact same situation as you. Bot from the Lazada SLS store and on Custom ROM 7.6.11.0 tried the Updater method
On 4 different official ROMS failed.

Tried PC Suite Eng and Chinese version failed to detect or error msg saying i need to update my mi5 then can connect to PC Suite. Get the same error msg - basically my computer doesnt seem to be able to detect the mi5 properly,even after i install the ADB drivers. My mi5 already on Developer and
USB Debugging enabled. However, i can see my mi5 connect aa a USB drive and access files.

I applied for bootloader unlock, waiting currently. However, im wondering if i will be able to unlock it given i need to connect mi5 to computer and use the Mi Unlock.exe. sigh.

Im wondering if its my computer which is the problem.

Does anyone know anywhere or anyone who can help me flash any global rom for a fee ?

I really don't mind paying for some help at this point.

Sigh, now i'm wondering if i should return the mi5 since Lazada allow 7 days return....

Mi pc suite not supporting android 6 devices for now. Turn on developer option - USB debugging won't help.
Rem to log in the mi account and put in SIM card when you try to unlock bootloader using unlock tool.
After that use miflash (not miflash beta, not mi pc suite) to flash to global rom while the device is in fastboot mode.

Anyone else interested to get the mi5 can apply bootloader first before you have the device.

Anything unsure, shld spend 15 mins to read 50 earlier posts in this thread.

for those who interested to get a mi5, lazada is selling it quite cheap right now. if able to add $20-$30 discount then it will be wonderful~

anybody having issues with Androidpay? I managed to add card and the next moment they say Androidpay is not available?
