just want to ask if anyone using roms other than stock on their redmi note.
eg. miui_HM_25.0_3W_Global_4.7.20_01 that is found on en.miui.com.
Any experience so far in using it?

And as I am a new android user (switch from iphone).
I will like to know if for example, I install this rom using twrp.
Later on, if I don't like it, and want to revert back to stock, how can it be done?
Download the offficial rom from en.miui.com and then install it using twrp too?

Should I factory reset my phone each time I change rom?

Will appreciate any advice and help~~

If you ask me, chipset probably doesn't matter much. MIUI is the bottleneck. I used the HTC Desire 816 and it's noticeably smoother and faster than the redmi note with mtk6592. Even though in benchmarks, the mtk6592 still wins.

why on earth would you want to do that?

just install the proper firmware as the updates app provides

if want to install other firmware also do so for the purposes of increasing functionality, such as serious modding or so, why would u install another standard firmware that wasn't released for your device?!

Hi, this rom is MIUI global but with Mi-tools and wsm included, sd card default, rooted default.
Best of all, the theme store is the original chinese version, you have access to much more free themes than the few limited ones available in stock. You can also purchase the paid themes as well.
Same goes for Sounds. You can have access to the ringtones and message tones to download.

Next week probably, no need to rush to grab a redmi note. Most people will wait for the 4G version. Take note that it is single SIM for 4G version.

Wonder whether 4G version for 1S will be available.

I beg to differ. The upcoming Note has got no value to me. I'm in my 30's. Travel a lot
And honestly, the most important tipping point in getting a Xiaomi Note is the dual sim & screen size. 3G is sufficient for me to check mails, surf. In fact, in some countries like Aust, their 3G speeds are faster than our 4G in terms of realistic speeds.

Absolutely no issues with the current version. Bit disappointed that Xiaomi is pulling 'stunts' again to test market positioning by offering the new Note w only single SIM. Sigh...

The glass screen protector is a lot easier to apply. I am consider getting one too for my note. I did (almost) successfully applied it on the Redmi 1 and my iPhone. I had a speck of dust in there but it sure is much better than my application of the normal screen protectors.

I think some shops will apply it for you but you might have to buy their screen protectors.

I'm bad at applying standard screen protectors too and got me a case instead.

same here... dual sim is 1 of the pulling factor. Am on 3G 12gb plan so no need for LTE. And with past hands-on of the redmi 1 to 1s , i.e battery / heat / memory issues, id stick with current note.

we need that kk soon!! :s12:

but i'll be honest and say.. for 4g the new one is quite a step back :o

the fact that it comes with kk will help alleviate some of the issues it has in terms of speed and performance :o

i was hoping for 6595 mediatek :o

i think it's not a stunt. it is a technological limitation currently

fyi, there are no dual-SIM LTE phones out there, as the CPU manufacturers [mtk, qualcomm, intel, etc] have yet to come out with one

had just bought and applied onto my Note. But I feel the glass SP attracts a lot of my fingerprint and hard to clean off, esp when oily stains. :p

then it might be that the settings under "security" take priority over the other settings

Glass SP got difference between brands and sellers too. The better quality ones will have oleophobic coating which will not attract as much fingerprints and will be easier to clean and smoother to touch.
