Not sure is it a norm for battery replacement. But i replace my iphone battery at Apple MBS. They gave me an estimated collection time at 4pm, Apple staff told me they will call/sms me when my phone is done. End up i reached back at Apple store at 4:10pm and blindly waiting for the call/text till 5pm till i approached a staff to to ask for the status of my battery replacement. End up it was already ready since 2:30pm and I wasn't notified. Gave the benefit of doubt but kena troll by Apple MBS 🤣
you could have asked them when in the store. i did and got served immediately.

I didn't approach them before the stipulated time as I didn't want to seem like I was chasing them since there's already a long list of replacement jobs.

But looks to me like they prefer people to "chase" and make them spend time checking (on their iPads then going inside), rather than take the few seconds to text customers like they used to back then at Apple Orchard.

Huh. I don’t think it’s a chase? And they are two different sets of people.

they can see on their iPad what’s the status.

Just to confirm when you mean chase, do you mean you went back earlier than the estimated time or?

Ya, if they say 3pm and you walk in to ask at 1pm, isn't it like chasing for an earlier timing?

What 2 sets of people? 1 set to hang around waiting for people to ask about repair/replace status?

No, I went back only to sit for the rest of the waiting time, rather than hang around longer outside. I wasn't waiting to be served, actually. Either I wait for the time given, or they'd text me if it's earlier, that's what I thought... wrong.

Not really crowded, and I guess they don't approach everyone that's hanging around since it's a norm for people to look-see at Apple outlets without planning to buy anything. Especially kids there to poke at their products.

Just that I headed back upstairs first, since they tend to have classes that sometimes interest me. It's only when I got bored and went downstairs to sit (more comfortable) that someone approached me. Guess those seats downstairs are more for people being attended to, and sitting there doing nothing that also means not looking at their products.

I thought with automation these days, informing customers waiting for collection would mean only to press a button. Looks like that's not the case...

Next time I know haha!

I gave them the benefit of doubt ma since Apple pretty efficient usually. Collect purchase I also stick to my time slot, I assumed it for battery replacement as well, since it's my first time doing repair/battery replacement at Apple store :ROFLMAO:

i was pleasantly surprised with my experience. when i approached the staff at the door and told them i'm here to collect my phone (and i did not tell them it's for battery servicing), she immediately recognized me and ask if i am mr xxx, and it's a different staff from the earlier one. i do not know how they remember me though. haha.

Friend and I did years back at Apple Orchard during the iPhone X and 7 Plus days. They texted us back then, was very efficient.

I think there’s a thread that says the customer service at MBS quite poor.

but that being said, there’s a difference between not being attentive to A customer that’s around vs not approaching you when your device is ready even though you might be hanging around. Cannot expect them to know you are there intending to pick up your stuff at the timing or you are just there burning time till the time of collection or what not, or just browsing.

the qns about whether a text is sent or not is a different matter, and you can also possibly put it down to cost cutting. But it’s still diff from expecting them to know you are there to pick up your stuff.

i see it as “opportunistic”. If it’s not ready, it’s not ready. They will tell you what they see on their status.

i see it as chasing if you ask them if they can go in to expedite.

The person who is outside serving and the person who’s inside repair.

asking opportunistically asking for a status update from the person outside is not chasing.

Ok. So you are talking about the lack of attentiveness in customer service. Yes, there’s indeed another thread that discussed mbs seems to be quite poor.

but it could be a number of factors.

but in terms of notification that it’s ready for collection.

it may be less of a digital issue, but possibly a cost cutting issue that we don’t know.

Good to know, next time will harass the staff about the replacement progress.
Sounds to me like Apple is going the way of McDonald's with their queue system, used to be great, now it's just a cluster fk at the counter since the preparing and now ready have become meaningless.

But not approaching them when you are there on or after est time and expect them to know you are there is indeed strange.

This is what I expected, but was left one side
that might be past practice. need to see if any recent experience of repairs done at orchard, whether they still do that.

cause pretty sure apple's processes quite standardised. cannot be one outlet does it one outlet doesn't.

Haiz.. Trust Apple too much :ROFLMAO:
i think that 1 more like trusting humans too much to realise people will recognise you / read your mind why you are there.

they have hell lotsa people they are seeing daily.

if only a few, then potentially will recognise you
