Maybe these will help u understand.

But i suspect it is ur choice to not understand lol.
So you want the Singapore government to be more authoritarian than it is now???

My way or the highway?

By LMW, i was asking whether he nv asked for breakdown of vaping / bullying by SC vs foreigners lol since that is his fav topic.

Hazel Poa asked abt bullying during her time in parliament so LMW had every chance to ask for breakdown as well.

Maybe cos no political points to score by concluding sinkies behave poorly haha.

Bullying is a societal problem that transcends nationality but it wasn't a huge issue for anyone until a death threat appeared recently. Hazel Poa and by extension, the PSP has already sounded the alarm back in the 14th parliament but nobody in white gave it too much attention until a death threat appeared to the victim's parents recently.

So the rise of the vaping pandemic and escalation of bullying tactics happened under the noses of a PAP government or a PSP one? I thought your fellow party cadres say can ownself check ownself???

then why lastime discipline so strict?lastime got framework then that framework kena thrown in the waste paper basket?
Cos last time parents allow teachers to whack students. Now this cannot that cannot
So she wants lots more cctv, a much bigger MOE and a more paternalistic gahmen.

Be careful what she wishes for.

And this party got many problems.

It's full of retirees and unemployed people but wants this and wants that.
Slippery slope argument. What level of authority should MOE be given? If the bullying happens outside of school, should the school intervene? Maybe u say if they are wearing uniform. Then the students will whack without uniform. Or if u say as long as student can intervene. Then what happens if two students not in uniform whack each other at a friend’s birthday party? School also to intervene
Before you stray out of topic, the current mess is due to the schools itself being so weak to take charge of the situation effectively. It is not helped by ministers promising punishments for filming the act of bullying, be it for shaming the victim or whistleblowing.
It’s cos parents are now so protective of students.
har? it's not me who is against naming and shaming hor....It was one of those who wore all white and said it in parliament. You can go google it.

Appropriate punishment? It is something that the schools need to decide for themselves. If you put it like the penal code, it runs the risk of being draconian. However, telling the school staff to do the right thing shouldn't be too difficult.
Motherhood statement. It’s like I tell PSP for elections just say the issues appropriately and diplomatically and make sure they resonate with the public and it shouldn’t be too difficult to win an election. I have said everything and maybe sound smart but no substance

PAP is also guilty of this
By sweeping the bullying case under the rug can be considered enabling liao
So I assume in work u report every infraction by your colleagues? I mean u don’t enable infractions, do you?
But has anyone been held accountable given how bullying ( a 2 decades long problem) and vaping in schools are being so rampant? Tell me if there is any minister who lost their ministerial posts for fugging up the ministry?
I think it’s hard to hold anyone accountable given the fact that parents are over protective of their kids nowadays. Maybe parents should be held accountable for any bullying cases?

In before 65/35. If there wasn’t a 35, the MOE would have just whacked and done what is necessary but now with the 35, reaching 40 at times, the MOE has to think twice before doing anything. This is what we want, don’t we? That’s what the 35 is for, to prevent the govt from doing anything too extreme.

i spent the 90's in primary and secondary school ... we openly know which school is which ss zhao gor one ... who is chup where one , school where are the smoking spots ...

but it felt it was under control ... did MOE have their weapons back then taken away or the people in MOE just have no pride in their work nowadays and just see it as a salaried job ?

The authority of parents ought to be reduced. If they cannot take their kid to hand then someone else will. If they cannot comply they can go live on a deserted island n do what they like.

every gong kia know how to denounce. i also noe. :spin:
Think it’s cos the assumption is maybe one day one of the bullied might be her kids but not that one day the bully might be her kids. That’s why easy to say

Unless she is like my father tell the teacher don’t worry just whack me. Then tell me how many whacks i got so when he go back he whack double that amount also

This will make a state more powerful than it is. Not a good idea also

Cos imagine if this applies to mRNA vaccines. Parents who reject vaccinating their kids don’t know what is good for society so if cannot comply, either go on a deserted island (but border lockdown so nowhere to go) or the authorities just forcibly vaccinate

true but this is the result of parents being too mollycoddled themselves.

Well, it has to start from somewhere....

No leh...This is the result of extremely low levels of enforcement and it only makes part of the 65 percent angrier.

I have to agree

Actually this can be seen in two ways

Low levels of enforcement can be due to complacency or it could be due to the desire not to offend cos job at stake

Just need MOE to come up with a more robust framework on dealing with bullying case.

There will be a need for MOE to come out a process for the schools to update MOE on any bullying cases raised. The Schools can handled the cases with their localized school discipline committee, but needs to provide update to MOE AND parent within certain time frame.

From there, MOE, will have a database on the numbers of bullying cases, and they can also monitor the rectification action by the schools, and intervene if the schools take no or limited action.

MOE also needs to open up a whistleblowing channel (I believed already have, but needs to educate students/parent). This is for schools who only do paperwork action to appease MOE, and the victim got to highlight to MOE
