HBP is not just about coffee.

Stress, sleep, diet, exercise, etc all can play a part.

Anyway it's common for mid age adults to take meds for chronic diseases.

Ya ....but lack of rest + U balance diet usually HBP will come. My mum used to be a gambler. Hardly zzz n her meals were in regular. Kanna 3 高 before aged 30

Where does the testosterone come from since high dose station block out all the cholesterol production.
😆 no idea man. I'm just a trained engineer.

I am also monitoring my health markers. I think when it's time to take meds, I will just take them.

At the moment, I'm just keeping healthy and fit while doing more health screening. I can still avoid meds for the time being.

Why

Many cardiologists practise this (max dose at 80 mg):

The bottom line, Rodriguez said, is that “if you have had a cardiovascular event, you should be on high-intensity statin therapy and you should be on the highest dose you are able to tolerate.”

*I remember my brother was under high dose statin after his cardiac event few years back. Then after he stabilises over the years, slowly adjusted to lower dosage.

Your numbers actually look like have chance to be lowered with diet and exercise without statin (provided you don't have other underlying conditions like high BP /cardio issues).

Your HDL and TG are reasonably good. Your LDL is about 40 points away from Desirable (129). If diet/exercise for 3 months likely to bring you to the Borderline High range, then another 3 months bring you to Desirable range. Then you have to stick to good diet/exercise for life.

But if you are not that kind of 'determined' type, then statin for life is a 'no choice'.

*After 50, it's very difficult to keep LDL below 100 without statin = I never dare to aim for that as that will require 'ultimate discipline' that I don't have.

I am 1.63 cm at 50.xx kg (trying to put on 1 kg). Look slim but not skinny.

So 170 cm at 55 kg maybe possible.

*my recent med check asking me to recall my weights when I was 18 and 21 yo. I recalled at 45 kg and 48 kg respectively.

Don't understand. You previously said you were 170cm at 55Kg. How can you suddenly lost 7cm and at 50Kg? Lost 5Kg still can understand, how can anyone lost 7cm.

Wait, you are a guy or a girl? How can any guy be 45Kg and not skinny?

You mis-read.

Hardware4455 (TS) is the one who said he is 170 cm at 55 kg.

You asking the question and so I pondering about it and answered (not on his behalf but for 'relative comparison purposes' only (that it's possible).

Why must aim for LDL < 100? Below 130 is desirable liao.

My brother bottom number high, top number normal..how to reduce

No one can give advice just base on a single high BP diastolic number. Need an 'overall' health picture.

Your brother needs to have full blood check to see whether he has other 'red numbers' elsewhere (esp thyroids and kidneys since these two if red numbers may result in HBP). He needs to pass his Cholesterol and Glucose test too.

If all numbers are OK, then can think of using diet and exercise to try to see whether can control it (anyway diet + exercise are always good for overall health).

Don't 'play' with high BP for too long coz if long enough, a person can just collapse.

*Chanced upon the below:

What Does the Systolic Blood Pressure Number Mean?

When your heart beats, it squeezes and pushes blood through your arteries to the rest of your body. This force creates pressure on those blood vessels, and that's your systolic blood pressure.

Here’s how to understand your systolic blood pressure number:

  • Normal: Below 120
  • Elevated: 120-129
  • Stage I: high blood pressure (also called hypertension): 130-139
  • Stage II: hypertension: 140 or more
  • Hypertensive crisis: 180 or more. Call 911.

What Does the Diastolic Blood Pressure Number Mean?

The diastolic reading, or the bottom number, is the pressure in the arteries when the heart rests between beats. This is the time when the heart fills with blood and gets oxygen.

This is what your diastolic blood pressure number means:

  • Normal: Lower than 80
  • Stage I: hypertension: 80-89
  • Stage II: hypertension: 90 or more
  • Hypertensive crisis: 120 or more. Call 911.

1610 sample size Fasting effects
920 with normal bp (<140)
620 with high bp (>140) - (370 medicated & rest non medicated)

920 mostly decrease bp, some original low bp normalised their bp
in the 370 medicated hypertensive group, only 25% need to continue their medications as intended, the rest of the 43.5% reduced their high bp dosage or 23.6% completely eliminated medications.
