If I were TS, I would just buy p3 and call it a day. It's QLC and dramless but given his use case, I don't think it's gonna matter that much.

Side track a bit but I'm disappointed with the progression of nand ssd. For most users, 4k random read(especially 4kq1t1) is the most important metric yet manufacturers have made very little progress in that regard. From PCIE 3 to PCIE 5, 4k random read barely moved. 10k sequential sounds impressive but most users are not able to make full use of pcie 3 sequential bandwidth, let alone 5. Even the much touted direcstorage is still not able to make much use of it. At this rate, I think even PCIE 10 nvme won't be able to break 200 mb/s 4kq1t1 read.

Won't recommend Crucial P3 it's isn't very good compare with Samsung 980 (Non pro).

@harky Think you just get Samsung 980, won't get hot and it's cheap.
Yes only this SSD won't get hot but it's DRAMless.
So meaning intensive workload like lots of file transfer, editing it can slow down.

Day to day and gaming Samsung 980 will be OK.
However the price is no big difference from Samsung 970 EVO plus, 980 1TB is $120
and Samsung 970 EVO Plus 1TB is $129.

You can go Challenger take a look at price, since Samsung have promotion
till end of this month. I still recommend get Samsung.

Oho.. That means u work at the audio section of challenger ah? now i know.. just kidding hor. u cannot take joke, i dunno wat to say 😭 but ya la. speed is there mostly for short burst of speed. n then, most drop back to slower speeds. so best to save money get the 970 evo plus or 980 non pro lo. game game n downloads all will see no difference cos internet speed also not that fast as the ssd. so they r more than enuf for many people

I don't know what are you asking.
Internet and SSD are two different topic.
1) Between 980 (Non pro) and 970 EVO plus which is better.
970 evo plus will be better since it got DRAM.
Transfer speed depends what you are doing.
Unlikely most of the time you will tap on NVME full speed of 3500mb/s.
2) Game download speed depends on the Game service like Steam, EA play, Epic store etc.
Not all game server are not hosted in SG so downloading a game can take some time.
Faster SSD will not affect download speed if that is what you are asking.
Type of router as well as whether you are using WiFi/LAN affects download speed.

local samsung all along not cheap. yeah EA is the local samsung distributor.

just like what uselessbum said.

u cant see any differences in ur daily usage.... even if u transfer large files, the difference is insignificant.

that day p3 1tb was $65, the cheapest i see so far.

best u go with ur own budget and needs..... here are pc enthusiasts...their recommendation may not suit u....
