Singaporean renting condo? What was their reason?
Not Singaporean, EP holders. My comment was that condos these days or even recent HDBs for that matter have very small kitchens, because Singaporeans mostly don't cook. But the flats built before Yr 2000, have decent size kitchens.

Not cooking is the excuse. If they don’t take away kitchen space, the living room will be too small.

I personally prefer HDB than a condo. We rent a 5 room HDB near Lakeside MRT, it is so huge 1300 sqft and rent is 1800. It is corner flat.

The other day we went to Caspian to meet a friend which is across the canal, it is so small 2 beddee. The kitchen is like a toilet size. I understand Singaporeans don't like to cook so kitchen is no use. But still. The rent is 2600. Such a waste, I prefer our huge 5 room HDB.

Did you try the swimming pool at your friend’s place? Good or not?

I would say it is a choice.

There are also bigger condo .
Some are willing to have the same chicken rice from $2 ( mrt stations ),$4 ( aircon food courts ) & all the way to ChatterBox.

Don’t believe the HDB fee is cheaper esp if you own 1 or more cars.

Most Sinkie residents do not touch the condo swimming pools .

Big & a few pools are draining the maintenance fee you have to pay monthly.

But our resident CCR property investor guru said maintenance fee is very small.

There are condo with 3 -4 pools ( 1 very large + 2 smaller + baby pool ).

Most residents don’t swim & the recent water hike do not help in saving to fill up .

But our resident CCR property investor guru said maintenance fee is very small.

US Mkt had crashed last night. Those who had bought during the past 2 years should be feeling panic, unless has huge war chest.

If you already have a proper financial plan in place, no fear of market volatility as it does not change anything in the bigger scheme of things. (You’ve already planned for the big-ticket things in life anyway) Even if DJIA drop another 8,000 does it matter if you’ve done the above?

Continue to invest in a steady manner. You’ll be foolish to pull out of the market as a knee-jerk reaction, you may be missing out:

Only guys that are over-leveraged (punting in the stock market and don’t have the funds) that will lose. You’ll know who they are as they’ll be naked.

For perspective, after this "crash," the U.S. S&P 500 is up 4.19% year-to-date and 9.21% over the past 12 months (as of market close on October 10, 2018), excluding the dividend yield.

Its all-time high so far was 2,940.91 (intraday, September 21, 2018), and it closed at 2,785.68 yesterday. That's a 5.3% decrease, excluding the dividend yield. According to commonly accepted definitions, a market crash requires at least a 10% decrease over a period of several days or less, and many people would question whether 10% qualifies. This is not even close to a crash, not yet anyway.

All the way back in ancient history, from January 26, 2018, through February 8, 2018, the S&P 500 fell 10.2%. ;)

That is precisely the problem. You see without the US falling, the rest of the world has fallen so much. Now as US starts falling the Rest of the world falls even more. We know this is not the bottom yet. It is probably 2 years away with a US recession/slowdown.

Are you refer to property stocks? Here dont do trade EC or condo woh as they are for long term stay, rent, or investment. Unless you tell me another cool measure coming soon :s22:

HDB maintenance fee parking plus 2 car park lots definitely still cheaper than condo maintenance fee. Besides HDB dwellers get rebate on maintenance fee and property tax is almost half.

Some in condo paying but don't even own car. Pay for what?

For 5 years I never used any facilities except parking and washing car :s13:

Now looking for resale HDB flat where government will give rebate on maintenance fee as well as u-save etc.
