3 years of specialized training, what??

yarh i agree can't compare between poly and JC. other than the training you received i believe they will need to look at other things to come up with a conclusion. like for poly students they look at criteria A and B, but for JC students they look for criteria C and D.

now i realize that you are referring to hss. Had i seen this i would have posted earlier. Do call hss directly, takes sometime before individual colleges notify the main office. My friend had the same problem last year, office of admissions told her appeal not successful but a call to hss told her she did.

really?! but will the people at hss be willing to check our appeal status? your friend from jc? or poly?

I propose a 50/50 split between A/Poly students intake

how can? with diplomas u all can easily find a job. but with just an alevel cert is akin to finding low-paid jobs. anyway u cant deny that jc curriculum is much harder and stressful than the poly one

erm. wats the criteria here n there? anyway, ya, u cant simply compare that way. becos u must see how hard we (as in generally most of us) mug to get an A or B for every subj. + our results are really base on the papers we sit for after the solid years (lets exclude SPA and PW). but for poly i think yr results are bulit up from yr 1st year onwards n stuff. so acty like if u didnt do very well for the 1st sem, u still have 2nd sem or what to pull yr result up. but for us, we may do extremely well in sch, but if we are unlucky or smthg during the actual paper, we can acty flunk the exam (esp papers like GP, like u know write outta point. i guess JCs ppl may agree this.)

Yeah they will be willing to, the hss office people are still pretty nice. Plus hss is smaller, lesser appeals to face compared to NBS or College of Engine, so perhaps its easier to check also. Just ask them, i mean its your information that you are asking for, and you are entitled to it anyway. Doesn't hurt to call too! I think alot of people make the mistake of calling the main office who receives the information late :)

JC Curriculum is harder ? More stressful ? These things are subjective. I hope we can agree on that

I agree with your first two parts though. With the removal of "easily"

Yeah, we have to perform well, consistently, throughout the three years.

Yeah second that. I have many poly friends too, and no doubt they face the same problem of lack of uni spaces this year. But be clear that when you enter a poly after your Os, you have already decided on a tertiary education, and that most likely the (tertiary) diploma will give you a headstart into the working world. It was already a fact that going to jc would give you a safer (or easier) road to university and since you made a choice to go to poly, you should have been conscious of the fact that you have to do very well to enter a local university.

No offense.

seems like everyone is just thinking about the process (exams, etc). but i don't think the university really cares about that but rather has more interest in the results you get at the end. i know i mentioned 'criteria' in my other post but aiyarh i also not working in those uni admission department hahah of course i wouldn't know the actual criteria. but i'm sure other than your GPA or A levels, they look at other aspects if not why would they to look at your Os and other supporting documents right ;)

anyway, can ask, how long will we have to wait for our matriculation package to be sent to us? becos i going overseas soon. den + i think that includes telling us the hostel thing? becos i tried logging to the matriculation part, i think they didnt update yet. yup.

so point is... stop speculating... since it is nothing but just baseless theories.

either your appeal gets through or it doesn't, simple as that... there is nothing much you can do but hope your appeal is successful.
