yea man. no point fighting with people on 4Br. this is easily the last plot of city fringe land that one can find at least for the next few years. cross fingers for good number though :3

and also, for people who ballot for 4Br. i really say good luck to u guys. 50% of the house of the 95% (if you are first timer) are prioritised for married child, 30+2% for other priorities. Basically u are left with 18% or 120 units if you are a first timer without any priority schemes. In short, 120 units fought among 3000 people. You have gotta be a spartan man.

Ya Lor. That would be me trying my luck.
Hopefully. Cause for the price I don't mind 4th floor units lol.

so how does the ballot really works?

say units allocated 95% first timers and 5% second timers.

application rate for 1st timer is 0.9
application rate for 2nd timer is 11.0
total applications 425
total units avaliable 300

HDB give numbers up too 300%, means 1 - 900.

Do they ballot for the 100% (1 - 300) sure get group first then they give numbers (301 - 900) to the unpick for the 200%?
(pirorities schemes will fight in their own group for the 15% first.
1st timer will fight in their own group for the 95% first.
2nd timers will fight between their own for the 5%.
then all the other unselected give the numbers after units avaliable (number 301 onwards))

OR they just group everyone together and randomly allocate to everyone because the total number of applicants havent not even hit the 300% (number 900).

Please assist the confused me.

i have a feeling the triple allocation is for each of the groups.
so their numbers are all 1-300 for each category.

hdb say Applicants under the priority schemes will be randomly shortlisted first before those non-priority applicants. All the shortlisted applicants will then be assigned a random queue number.

jus duno this queue number given is within 100% or 300%.

yea. this part is rather confusing. can you advise where you extract this information. from HDB? i'm not sure how this works though.

by looking at a 0.9 application rate scenario, how the priority schemes work? and also understanding that they have 30% allocation for them, does it mean that they will get the chance to ballot first?

It is a frequently asked question. Priority schemes help you get a chance at the ballot, not a chance at a better number (at least not directly).

I would imagine a chance to ballot are drawn in the following order, and a number will be randomly allocated immediately once the applicant is drawn for that chance to ballot. By probability, you would have a better chance at a better number if you are drawn earlier, but no specific effort is made to constrain your queue number within the number of applicants in your priority group:

(1) Third Child/Seniors/Tenants Priority have quotas but there are not that many of them to go around
(2) PPS (up to 30%) / MGPS (up to 15%) would see more applicants, but probably not enough to hit quota still
(3) A huge pool of MCPS fighting for the allocation (30% FT)
(4) First-timers without priority schemes, or FT with priority schemes who have not been given a number in the previous rounds
(5) MCPS second timers (15%) get their shot
(6) All remaining numbers not drawn gets balloted
(7) Everyone else fails to get a number

Just so they can sell every last unit, as far as possible. There can be plenty of balance units left for sale even after allocating a queue number to applicants up to 300% of flat supply.

Given, these are usually less popular areas (far eastern parts of Yishun, and Keat Hong areas in earlier times, and Canberra before it caught on), but it does happen.

Conversely, if it is determined that there will not be a sufficient number of units for selection in an exercise, those at the tail end might not get a chance to select even when they are within 300% of flat supply and is issued a number. A common example of this happening will be when racial quotas are hit.

oh well, then my next questions will be:

if the application rate is 0.9, does it mean that everyone is guaranteed a booking of house irregardless of priority scheme or the absence of it?

and also, take for example:
1) One with Priority scheme (married child) got a queue no of 50
vs
2) One without Priority scheme get a queue no of 10.

Who will choose the flat first? 1 or 2 ?

0.9 first timer means everyone will get a queue number from.
The booking of flat would be base on the number given. So in ur situation 2) will get

From what I think priority applicants are given a random ballot number for whatever percent. Then those not selecte are given another chance with the non- priority non scheme another chance for a ballot number

The 0.9 here is for FT, so basically all FT can be reasonably assured of a number within flat supply. I say reasonably because this figure is subject to units set aside for priority schemes, and frankly I have no idea whether HDB includes or excludes units set aside for priority schemes before applying this ratio.

MCPS gets a queue number drawn within the public pool, so the applicant without priority schemes with a queue number of 10 will select before the MCPS applicant with a queue number of 50. There are certain schemes with their own queue numbers (MGPS/PPS/GRO) and only their queue numbers will be distinct.

i think in short is:

first round ballot is to qualify for queue ticket. chances is based on the different priority scheme.

2nd round is everyone shortlisted from first round randomly get a queue number. i think this part is equal chances for everyone regardless of the priority scheme they are under.

The BTO ballot is done via a computerised system with a built-in algorithm to ensure fairness to all applicants while reserving a certain percentage of the flat supply to those with priority schemes. The priority schemes thus improve an applicant’s chance of being considered for the ballot, but do not assure the applicants of a favourable queue number ahead of non-priority scheme applicants. During every BTO exercise, applicants under the various priority schemes will be randomly shortlisted before non-priority applicants.
