I think f6 will have a price hike as well... Lets see...
Don't see a need to upgrade as of now
Definitely will hike, since XM starting to rebrand to higher end segment of mobile device market. More or less, POCO will be affected to a certain extent. Lets hope it still delivers the required to justify the pricing.

For those whom want to upgrade to HyperOS for poco f5

Under settings > additional settings > region

Change it to Hong Kong. OTA will flow in

Else is continue to wait for OTA to reach SG. :s13:
Oh yeah i completely forgot about it. Malaysia also can. Last time i change to Egypt for my F2 Pro haha

Updated to HyperOS on Poco F5. Haven't played around much with it but nothing much LOL. Battery certainly didn't drain though.

The Settings page still messy, still bloaty so i dunno what's the need to change the name so drastically. Makes people less excited about them doing the same next time.

To me, its the exact same OS. Settings menu design, overall OS design exactly the same... Maybe just to create hype ba... But for me didn't notice much change....

OS design i wouldn't know since i use Nova launcher anyway Setting Menu i think some changes la, at least the check for update part now different. I'm sure there are more underlying changes but so far seems really minimal. I think the biggest change was MIUI 12 - 12.5 or something back then. The OS was pretty sluggish with 12 and before and the 12.5 was really a huge leap forward in terms of smoothness and ironically that was supposed to be only an incremental update 😁

As a standalone phone, HyperOS is pretty much just a renamed and more optimised MIUI. But if you are in China where Xiaomi ecosystem is much more extensive, there should be some noticeable difference. It was redesigned to integrate better with their IOT anyway.

Xiaomi HyperOS uses both Linux and Vela kernels. Vela is Xiaomi's IoT platform based on NuttX RTOS.

Other minor differences: for example, they claim HyperOS occupies less space than MIUI.

Most of the consumer would not care if it it linux or vela, end of the day unless you are into their ecosystem, its just another "rename" MIUI. As long as it is more efficient, most user will not mind.

What is the version of Android for this hyperOS? 13 or 14?

At what price point is f5 a good deal?
Think I missed the f4 at 200+ boat liao.

Or any other alternative?
Buying for elderly mom but basic use.
So entry level is enough. Or lower mid tier.
Thanks

Won't the x or m series be better option and cheaper too. F series is the higher end of poco.

Imo if can get below $300 is good deal. Maybe $250-280 kind as it won't get any lower based on F4 sales.

I read very scary reviews on the m3 thread.
X seems viable
But if 200+ can get f4, why pay the same for x?
