Local ISPs always focused on customer acquisition, never about customer retention...
Yup. Am at day 10 without internet. SIMBA 'still checking' . Taking 10 days to check without sending anyone onsite

Just experience my first network distruption. When it works, it is good, when it down, means down and no help except submit form at the website. The Whatsapp is only for appointment and sell equipment. :ROFLMAO: ~12.00 just disconnected.
disconnected2.jpg

Restart & troubleshoot, didn't work, message Whatsapp number and pointed to the website:
"Hi, You may raise your enquiries and feedback thru SIMBA Telecom Website > FAQs > customer support team.
Select Broadband under the drop down list.
The customer service agent will get back to you.
Thank you.
"

Spend a while looking for that menu and finally found the form & submitted the form.
Looks back at the computer and it is back online already.

Here is the link: https://support.simba.sg/hc/en-us/requests/new?
It isn't easy to navigate on the phone.

Re-connected.jpg

12.55 =>Back online (almost 1 hour), after a few re-boots and restarts.
When it works, it really good.

Conclusion: Don't sign up yet if you are doing mission critical or have unlimited mobile plan standby.

I thought it was hot, but now I touched and it isn't that hot. I was thinking of adding some fan underneath but now doesn't feel hot at all.

WARNING:
Again, when it works then it is really great but stability & customer support might be an issue for some people with really basic IT knowledge. I submit the form since 1pm, til now still doesn't have any response, lucky it is resolved, Imagine if the issue persists.

Mission critical usage is definitely not suitable for now. Once it is stable then I would strongly recommended.

Like that I cannot patronize Simba cos me watching Tiktok and Youtube is mission critical, LOL!
I have more than 10 windows running and suddenly cannot access for almost one hour. It isn't a good experience, will have to prepare & get ready mobile hotspot for future incidence already. The gamers would have an issue if suddenly disrupted. Of cos watching online video isn't a big issue, just subscribe, LoL.

:( ... then liddat I subscribe Whizcomms for the time being till Simba get their acts together.

MR kept pressing me to recontract. The rate they give no diff from the published rate. Can tell me if I don't sign, once contract ends i will be paying more... so just want me to terminate lor...
All new sign up fees plus termination fees plus monthly rate for 12 months add up to be the same.
But with WC i get aggregated 2.5Gbps, whereas MR still 1Gpbs. Whoever plans their pricing or customer retention needs to wake up.

Long time ago SH always call me and give me special rates to recontract, then after few recontracts, they stopped doing it... so then i ended the contract also. They also tried to force me recontract with the TV package...

my 2cents for a more balanced view of simba
with simba for about a month... location central, orchard exchange
from the logs (pinging simba gateway ip) down twice, both in the wee hours for less than 10mins.
both times router failover to viewqwest connection.
No complains from kids/helper on the internet connection. the streaming for multiple tvs(netflix, prime, singtel cast) all problem free, no lags or switching to lower res/quality
speedtest range from 1500-1800mbps D/L, U/L about 1000mbps depending on time and server

so all i can say is that when it works... it works ok.
If it breaks?? that i don't know.. maybe pray? if that's your thing

I think for your use case, SIMBA can be a perfect choice as you have the main VQ services in case SIMBA is down.

In fact, I think it is even a good idea for some power users who want to have dual ISP redudancy to subscribe to SIMBA 2.5Gbps plan + WC 2.5Gbps plan. S$43.6 per month seem to be a good deal for dual ISP, since it is actually cheaper than dual 1Gbps plans from Singtel/M1/Starhub/MR (no ISP redudancy).

I may explore this idea myself if there are no good 2.5Gbps plan after my Singtel contract expires in September 2024.

On the other hand, I may choose to stay with Singtel 1Gbps plan as well due to the fact I can use dual network with two public IPv4 addresses and dual /56 IPv6 (Singtel ONT user). I am paying S$40.4 now for Singtel 1Gbps.

The pain of prolong downtime is 10x more than the joy of high speed and affordability.

You do have a pretty balance view nevertheless. We can't just bash Simba for its misgivings.

Day 11 without usable internet service. The technician they sent down is of no help. He is contractor for SIMBA, their main job is to do the installation for new sign-ups and all the guy did was check the ONT modem, FO cable ethernet cable are working. He did a speedtest on his iphone 15 pro max, his company laptop, all gave the same result of less than 1mbps of speed. He did not bring down a spare ONT modem to test because SIMBA did not approve it and the trip was just to verify the issue I described. He then came back again in the afternoon, probably after reporting back to SIMBA, they decided to place ONT modem which gave the same results.

TDLR - issue not fixed, no improvements, haven't gotten back to me whats next. most likely moving into the weekend with 13 days of no service from SIMBA.

P.S technician told me i am not the only user experiencing such issue, there are many and he doesn't know what is the eventual outcome or solution
