I think you're confused with the activation of eSIM with Vivifi vs the activation of eSIM on your phone.Thanks usually for physical sim port in, in recent years I’ll pop it in spare phone to avoid this issue. Until it’s fully ported. Then I pop the sim into my main phone.
as per to Vivifi’s faq instructions here . I got to activate the Sim or esim before MNP(mobile number porting). Hence I’m caught in such situation.

1) Submit mobile number porting request.

2) Activate SIM/eSIM with Vivifi.
