Is better to change to a multipoint instant heater, which works the same as a storage heater. Then u dun hv to worry abt on/off the electricity.

Looking for storage water heaters, but Joven apparently is not easily available due to M'sia shutdown. Was recommended 717 25L model instead?

Wanted Joven cos previous house used it for >8 years without issues, haven't used 717 before - any opinions? Thanks

Rheem water heater is very lasting. In my previous condo, I used for close to 20 years before it started leaking..

My previous ariston 30Litre storage heater lasted more than 10 years which I find quite good . When I was looking for replacement. I find out that the market price for the plumber to do the installation is not cheap. It was at least min standard $180 across. Went to hoe kee, Sim siang Choon and all told me the same thing. Even a direct model replacement without modifying the water pipe inlet out to the heater also charged the same place. That why I find from my old 30 litres upgraded to 40 litres to AOS heater is quite worth it.
In 2018, my ariston 30L water heater no power light after 3+ yr. I found that the rod thermostat was set to maximum temp instead at the 2 dots indicated. (The contractor that installed the water heater incompetent?)
Do check that the thermostat setting if you are using the old school storage heater.

I had called the service center and they do not sell the part to customer, instead they will charge over one hundred dollars for their contractor to do service check and replace of the part, citing safety concern. I ended up bought a 267mm rod thermostat from Shopee and fixed it myself.

Any recommendations for storage tank water heater for 3 adults, 2 children (probably about 50L?) that look good, i.e. not an ugly cylinder? Was looking at the Ariston Slim but those top out at only 30L.
Considering the following 3:
  1. Ariston Pro R S 56 SHE
  2. Rheem EHG55S
  3. AOSmith ELJH-50

Does your plumber connect a drainage hose to the emergency release outlet of your storage water tank? I realised mine didn’t and my previous water tank tended to drip from this valve after a while, staining the false ceiling below

Are instant heaters still worth to buy nowadays? Or better to switch to gas for safety purposes?

currently using champs instant water heater with rainshower, bought in 2019.. there was a loud boom and my electricity short circuit this morning when I switch on the water heater.. after a while, I reset and the heater is working well again... Should I change the water heater to avoid another short circuit or getting electrocuted?
