Its 3am+ ...working on 1 of my customers' firewalls and i've just chanced upon this thread:

Since someone is so obsessed about Hawaii Speed tests , here are some speed tests done by yours truly on both Singtel 200Mbps & 300Mbps VQ (since as EDMWers like to say NPNT) - I GPGT for you:

Digitech Solutions LLC - ST

Wiz Technologies - ST

Digitech Solutions LLC - VQ

Wiz Technologies - VQ

Hope this end this Hawaiian debacle.

Please go watch Hawaii Five-0 TV series more on Hulu rather than asking people to run speed tests at Hawaii... its not real world.

Period.

Many ST user are still ADSL user and this 2 that you show me are ADSL user. Just look at my speed test.

Then look elsewhere.

ST throttles heavily - with even pathetic speeds during the wee hours. Majority of HWZners know this.

VQ so far has not disappointed for me.

Routes/hops shorter & better latency if you game.

Hope VQ doesn't disappoint me.

Thank everyone for the input and sharing
Think I will mostly go for VQ (300) as that is what my friend is using.

Another question, what laptop min requirement should i get if I using bittorrent download and streaming for dramas and movies (Will be linking it to TV to watch)
Does the graphic card need to be good to link to TV for watching ??

Sorry noob in Tech here.

You do not need a high specification laptop for Bittorrent and online streaming.

Graphic card for TV is more for the resolution and output type (VGA, DVI, DisplayPort or HDMI).

BEST To have SSD instead of HDD and at least FHD LED screen.
Processor is at least i7 2.4 Ghz or faster
Graphic card better get those with GDDR5 for example like GTX 880M or GTX 770M or GTX ....
At least 1 piece of 8Gb RAM.

For torrenting, you will probably just want a large hard drive, because at VQ torrent speeds, your hard disks will fill up in a few weeks if you're not careful.

CPU requirement however is not that high, any modern day computer can do just fine. RAM helps as you can tune uTorrent to use more RAM ask disk cache — reducing the limitation of your hard disk, as it will cache to RAM then take i's time to write to hard disk = higher speeds achievable.

As for TV connectivity — as long as your computer has a HDMI port you are all set. Modern computers can decode 1080p video perfectly smoothly even without a graphics card.

If you are getting a Smart TV — Samsung TVs can be set to US region, and then the Netflix, Hulu and other US-based channels which are supported will work directly on the TV :)

Anyway if you are PC SHOW just look for me, easier to explain!

The PCs @ PC show for testing at VQ booth are running integrated graphics but you can stream Netflix SuperHD just fine (there's also a bunch of games like Dota 2, TF2, Civ V, L4D2 and so on, as well as uTorrent)

You are recommending a mid to high end specifications computer that is overkill for deleted_nil's usage.

Either ST is faster there or his metal work has brought him to Honolulu :s22:

Honolulu is in Hawaii (USA). It is a nice and sunny place and a great place to eat western food and shop around. I have been there before and I really love it because it has nice papaya and the weather is hot like sg. Feel like home.

Not really as I am using such computer everyday for quite long time. No overkill for sure. My friend com is even high end and with liquid cooling system.
