A word of caution for using those large water heater tank.

Although the water coming out of the shower head is clean the inside bottom of the tank and the heater tube is covered with calcium deposits and dirt from the water over a long period of use.

This can increase your water bill due to built-up of deposits covering the heater element which takes a longer time to heat up the water, dirty water on the lower side of the tank and, worse, can cause explosion if not careful.

The reason why the water coming out is clean is because it exit from the top inside of the tank whilst the dirty water and deposits stay on the bottom side.

Make sure you have the inside of the tank and the heater element clean every 2 to 3 years

:D

I assume any plumber can just clean this? Do you know roughly what price range they would charge for this service?

Value for money, safety, fast heating, can store 2 x memory when to auto heat up the water.

Are you using this too? Can share family size and the monthly SP bill?
I'm still hanging whether to get instant or storage.

I wanted to have taps that has warm water functions (which is storage) but seems like instant is more easier to maintain.. :s22::s22:

Just use instant if you think otherwise ... think too much waste of time ... tell you storage heater tank good ... and you doubt it then is like forcing a cow to drink water nia ...

If you think it is snake oil, it is snake oil.

I think instant more effort to maintain as every few years it will get damaged.
Storage seems to last longer, may be need to do servicing.
Storage is nicer as the tank is not in line of sight and it can store enough water and pressure.

What kind of maintenance does storage heater need? How often? And what's the typical cost? Just any plumber can do it?

For me, don't see any purpose for taps to have warm water. Instant water heater saves all the hassle of maintaining. Just install and use.

I bought Ariston storage heater and place it in common bathroom for my new BTO. Was considering instant however decided to change to storage due to limited space available if install instant.
